i went to the party last night
and i saw everyone i know
made all the usual rounds
said all the usual hellos
but i just wasn't feeling it
and i knew pretty soon i'd be leaving it
so i didn't waste time
i found my keys and got ready to go
but, just then when i was about to take that ride
she knocked on my window
and jumped in the passenger-side
so i turned up the stereo loud
and we drove around all night
talking, laughing, listening
'til the early morning light
but we both hadn't yet had enough
so we parked the car, watched the sun come up
and it was cold, so we shared a blanket
and it all felt so right
well, nothing lasts forever
by and by i drove her home
i remember now how nice it feels
not being all alone
so i decided to give her a call
we had such good time after all
so i punched in her digits, held my breath
and hit send on my cellphone
